Hoy es el mejor día
On June 7, 2024, I released a song and its musical video titled ‘Avui és el millor dia’ that means ¡Today is the best day’.
The proposal is that each stream/view will be linked to a donation via Bizum at 02621 to the Fundació Catalana d’ELA Miquel Valls.
It all started with a call from the artist NINA, who asked me if I wanted to get involved with the disease and the foundation, which is responsible for improving the quality of life of people suffering from ALS.
I was immediately inspired, I met the Oliveras family, who, led by Ilde, a tireless fighter and activist, shared with me their intimate and family experiences since they learned of the diagnosis. Based on this complicity with the family and informed through the documentary ‘Unzué, l’últim equip del Juancar’ and the subsequent TV3 colloquium, I began working on the lyrics and melody of the song, and I took as my motto (and title) the phrase ‘Avui és el millor dia’, a phrase that Ilde repeats every day and which has also ended up being the phrase on some T-shirts printed with solar ink that are only visible when we go out and that have been on sale for months now in aid of the Foundation at AvuiEsElMillorDia.org
The lyrics also mention the Swim for ELA association (“…que qui neda per la causa, fa del mar un lloc de pausa…”) and the Mà Amiga story, two projects that have long been raising money to find a cure for the disease.
Musically, I have once again relied on the production of Arnau Figueres (co-author of the song), and the usual musicians I work with (Isaac Coll on bass, Adri González on keyboards). This time the Beating Souls gospel choir, directed by Nacho Melús, a regular choir member of my project, has also joined. The choir has involved both the recording of the audio and the video clip in a selfless way, providing unique sound and energy.

The song’s cover features a very special element: the title was written by Ilde using what little mobility he has left in his hands. The design is by Guillem Casasús, with photography by Eren Saracevic and illustrations by Anna Berbiela and Asier Belloso. The song’s cover features a very special element: the title was written by Ilde using what little mobility he has left in his hands. Here you can see how Ildefons Oliveras writes the title:
The music video was made possible thanks to the selfless work of director Albert Capó of Play Your Brand, illustrators Asier Belloso and Anna Berbiela, and a large number of professionals who donated their time and talent to the cause. It features myself, the choir, and four ALS survivors: Siscu Morell, Carina Casanovas, Cueva Joglar, and Ildefons Oliveras himself. It was filmed on May 19th in Cornellà del Terri.
All of this has been made possible thanks to the patronage of Àngel Peix (whom I met thanks to the collaboration of Dr. Eduard Estivill) as well as the company Sumoll De Ferré i Catasús and the fruit company Llorens Capdevila.
As an artist, I donate all the profits from the song to the Catalan ALS Foundation Miquel Valls. That’s why I’m asking for your collaboration in promoting this single, because it can really help me reach the public and allow us all to improve the lives of these people who struggle daily to have a more dignified life.
